Red for Ed

March 11, 2021 by

During last Tuesday’s “emergency MTA meeting” an educator from our region had suggested wearing red on Friday in support of educators getting the vaccine as no concrete plan had yet been announced. With the great news that the vaccine would be made available immediately from pharmacies such as CVS as of last Wednesday and as of March 11 on state sites I did not see that this “action” was necessary to bring attention to a problem that was being rectified. I just want to explain why I did not communicate this “action” to all.

That being said, members at Keith wore red last Friday is support of Educator’s being vaccinated.as can be seen in the photo below.

Executive Board of Directors member Colin Green (front left) poses with members of the Keith team in support of  Educators getting the vaccine.

NBEA Child Gives back to the Community

February 5, 2021 by

Today, Friday February 5th at Keith Middle School, began a distribution of clothing and hygiene supplies accumulated through the efforts of the NBEA.

(Event Organizer Wanda Nunes)

Community partners including Judy Ramos from Infinite Promises Healing Center, Tom Talbot from First Citizen’s  Federal Credit Union, and former President of the NBEA Lou St. John through his connection as a volunteer with Jim Steven’s Gifts to Give contributed their time and talents in procuring clothing and financial backing to make this event possible.

(Pictured from l-r: Tom Talbot, Kelly Westgate, Judy Ramos,  Melissa Goncalves. Fred Pearson, and Wanda Nunes)

NBEA members, nurses Wanda Nunes and Donna Calderbank spent their own, precious time buying  items for students in need and organizing today’s event..  Nurses from throughout the system will be making the pilgrimage to Keith today to acquire necessary items to help those in need at their buildings.

If a member knows of a student in need…clothing, hygiene supplies, etc.  please contact your building’s nurse to see what can be done to help.  To date this year, the NBEA has provided $4808.22 to fund this effort.
